GU GUIDE LOCATIONS
Which side of the shortcut do you favour? Are you team Berawa or team Batu Bolong?
The driveway to Seminyak from the Gu, Batu Belig is a long cosmopolitan strip of boutiques, cafes, restaurants and spas. Batu Belig beach is home to a few funky beach clubs - to save you the need to venture out as far as Petitenget.
We have dubbed it "GU-beroi Street" after Seminyak's famous Oberoi. The Batu Bolong strip is the heart line of Canggu - the new boutiques, the hip cafes, the happening bars. Centrally located, get yourself a pad around here and you're within walking distance to all the action.
Expat Central - Berawa is where the people in the know go for their firm favourites and Canggu classics. Into your cafe society? There's too many to choose from this side of the shortcut. Only ten minutes into Seminyak, this is the more sophisticated end of the Gu.
Echo Beach.. Far away in time (or so they've coined) it's all black glittering sand, beanbags & Bintangs, seafood BBQ dinners overlooking a techni-coloured sunset and the infamous Sandbar beach parties.. oh, and one of Bali's most renown surf breaks.. it's no wonder this is becoming the new IT corner…
Although not officially GU mainland, you can't avoid passing through Kerobokan on your way in/out. It's where we go for mid-week fruit markets, specialty boutiques and warehouse sales. It's suburbia to the Cangguians.
Thinking cascading rice fields and sprawling acreages fit for a Bali wedding? Think Pererenan. Luxury beachfront estates accessed by palm lined roads that seem to go on forever. Farmers lugging watermelons onto the back of rickety trucks. The Old Bali still exists in this little corner of Canggu.
Although literally “just over the road” from Berawa & Batu Bolong, cross over Jl. Raya Canggu to the small Balinese villages of Tiying Tutul, Babakan or Dalung and you will feel a million miles away (in a good way). The other side of "Raya Canggu" offers Canggu visitors an authentic…
Nestled in-between Berawa, Kerobokan and Seminyak - Umalas is often dubbed The Beverly Hills of Bali (mainly by people who live there). Gently rolling hills of villas bordered by lush green rice fields.. it's a vista you can't find anymore in Seminyak, and only a 5 minute drive into The…

New hipster hangouts sprouted like magic mushrooms during wet season, and things got a little extra (we’re looking at you Salumeria, Ji Restaurant, Finns).
