A little LA glam in our otherwise shoeless Canggu lives, One Eyed Jack is an Izakaya (casual Japanese after-work Sake lounge) – pouring up the hottest flavours from the modern Japanese dining scene. Their head chef hails directly from the LA > Miami > New York Nobu chain, bringing a decade of experience under his apron tie. His Yanagiba newly sharpened on Berawa stone, he’s carving up Izakaya and tapas-style small plate offerings for your gastronomic pleasure.
Red lanterns illuminate what is set to be Berawa’s new eat street, this the first of many (mature) hangouts on their way to the beach-end of Jl. Pantai Berawa. The sliding door opens and you are met by excited exclamations (“ee-ra-shy-ma-say!!”) welcoming you to your new favourite bar.
Pull up a chair and order from their range of house cocktails (try “Jack’s Lychee Martini” and “A Night in Roppongi”). Next stop: Sake. Sharing is caring, so order your favourite for the table and let the good times flow. Now, if champagne is liquid gold, then sake is a liquid platinum. Smooth, sexy, decadent and no after bite. Speaking of bites; do yourself a favour and order the spicy tuna bites, the black miso cod, soft shell crab and the rock shrimp tempura – our absolute favourites. Then move on to plates of crispy Karaage chicken (next level), grilled yakitori skewers (so much yum) and a moorish oyakodon bowl. Don’t leave until you’ve tried the dessert sake, the chocolate lava cake and the crazy-good mochi ice cream (you can thank us later).
Some like a good drink, some like good food. Jack’s got both 😉
