In the daytime Ulekan is a warung-style eatery with a nasi campur buffet of all your favourite Indonesian dishes, piled as high as you can handle. Choose a spoonful of this, a few mouthfuls of that – so that you get to try it all – our kinda eating!
Come nighttime, Ulekan is a sophisticated nightspot serving up the best meals from across the Indonesian archipelago. No msg, no palm oil, just honoured recipes prepared fresh with the modern flair these boys are renown for.
Our hot tips? The Gado Gado with peanut sauce crushed fresh-to-serve from the “Ulekan”(mortar & pestle), the Perkadel Jagung (corn fritters) with chilli and green sambal, the tender melt-in-your-mouth Rendang Sapi (beef rendang), the Dendeng Sapi Balado (caramelized beef jerky), or the Ikan Kakap Garing (fried whole barramundi with sweet, sour & spicy dipping sauce). Don’t leave before you’ve tried the Balinese banoffee – an island take on a dessert classic. Also, that Es Teller (crushed ice with fruits, sorbet & jelly) on a hot day – life changing.
